GyroSmart | Drillhole Survey System | Flexit Running Gear and Accessories
GyroSmart
The GyroSmart system is the simplest to use, yet most technically advanced, miniature Digital Gyro survey system available on the market. It provides highly accurate azimuth and dip data from inside the dip string at any angle and ensures straight drilling. This new survey tool innovated by FlexIT, is not only one of the most affordable Gyro on the market, it is also small, without cables, and battery powered.
The GyroSmart is a complete downhole surveying in all environments, providing its own quality checks. GyroSmart is built around digital micro gyroscopes, complementing traditional magnetometers and inclinometers, to form a small but precise instrument that will replace a host of competing technologies.

Drillhole Survey System
Fordia offers the Flexit SingleSmart and Multismart - innovative tools for Drillhole Surveys.
Whenever and wherever you drill, you need to know the location and spatial relationships of your drillholes. Without this information, all other costly drillhole data is rendered, at best, inaccurate or, at worst, almost useless. That could expose your organization to unnecessary financial and environmental costs.
Without proper data, you cannot rely on your drillhole being straight or following a planned (modelled) path. Even short drillholes can deviate by a considerable amount - and this can have a major impact in quarrying, blasting and geotechnical work.
When you drill long or deep holes – or even short holes – the planned path can deviate significantly. It is critical to know the exact path of your exploration or production drillhole. That is where Flexit offers a huge advantage. When quarrying, when grouting or freezing, or when blasting, you need to know the exact spatial relationship of all holes. You want this information quickly, accurately, and on site. You want a reliable, state-of-the art, simple-to-use, easy-to-maintain, in-hole survey system.

Flexit Running Gear and Accessories
FORDIA offers a full range of FlexIt Smart Tools and accessories to ensure your drillhole surveys are easy and accurate.
Aluminum Spacer Rods The spacer bars are made from high quality grade aluminum. The Flexit uses three of these bars in a barrel assembly to keep the survey tool away from the magnetic interference caused by steel drill rods.
- Length = 1.5m, OD = 38mm (Set of 3)
- 14.4kg
- Part No. - FRG-021

Top Sub The Top Sub has a two-way internal shock absorber to protect the survey tool. It incorporates a safety sleeve that locks onto the T end of the tool and prevents it from accidentally slipping off the instrument hanger during barrel assembly.
- Length = 0.5m, OD = 38mm
- 2.4kg
- Part No - FRG-043

Brass Pressure Barrel The heavy dut brass pressure barrel is designed for durability in the tough conditions of a drill site.
- Length = 1.2m, OD = 38mm, ID= 32mm
- 3.4kg
- Part No - FRG-042

O-ring Large Three high quality O-Rings are used in the FRG38 assembly.
- Pack of 20
- Part No - FRG-016

Bottom Sub The heavy-duty bottom sub with shock absorber reduces shocks generated when the survey system hits bottom. The FRG38 bottom sub assembly is joined with E-rod threads to allow assembly of the aluminum spacer bars below the brass barrel, when the tool is used inside non-magnetic reverse circulation rods.
- Length = 0.5m, OD = 38mm
- 3.4kg
- Part No - FRG-044

Full Circle Barrel Wrench The full circle wrench is geared for use on the 38mm Brass Barrel.
- - ID = 38.2mm
- 0.4kg
- Part No - FRG-033

O-Ring Lubricant Silicone lubricant exhibits excellent resistance to water, chemicals and acids and operates between -40 degrees C to 200 degrees C.
- 100g tube
- 0.1kg
- Part No - FRG-065

Orientation Bull Plug Assemblies Like the top sub assembly, the bull plug assembly has a two way internal shock absorber to protect the survey tool. It also has an adjustable orientation connecting shaft for survey tool orientation.
- Available in 36mm and 38mm.
- 36mm OD
- 38mm OD

Landing Collars Box type landing collars attach to the wireline overshot jar bar, this attaches the survey systems running gear directly to the wireline.
- BQ (E Box)
- NQ (A Box)
- HQ (A Box)
- PQ (B Box)

Lead Tell-tale For the Quality Check part of the orientation mule shoe assembly, the Lead Tell-tale is critical to placement. When mounted in the mule shoe and lowered to the mule shoe sleeve, a tell-tale imprint is made from the locating pin of the mule shoe sleeve.

Orientation Mule Shoe Assembly Orientation mule shoe assembly fits to the bottom of the orientation assembly; it locates into the orientation mule shoe sleeve when lowered into the rods for orientation surveys. This shoe fits both 36mm and 38mm systems.
- Fits FRG36 and FRG38 running gear
- 3.4kg
- Part No - FRG-027

Orientation Mule Shoe Sleeves The orientation mule shoe sleeve is assembled in the drill string allowing the orientation mule shoe to locate into the sleeve at a common orientation for each survey. The internal pin leaves an impression on the tell-tale in the orientation mule shoe to confirm that the mule shoe has located in the same orientation on each survey. The survey system assembly generally has 9 metres of non-magnetic drill rod fitted directly above the mule shoe sleeve; this positions the survey tool approximately 4.5 metres from either the down hole motor at the bottom, or the steel drill rods at the top of the drilling assembly.
- BQ box to BQ pin
- NQ box to NQ pin
- HQ box to HQ pin

Mule Shoe Cams The mule shoe cam is used when setting casing wedges. A 12mm pin is welded into the casing wedge and the relevant cam fitted to the mule shoe. Once the wedge has been surveyed in the correct orientation, the pin is drilled out with the drill bit and drilling continues.
