Corescan is proud to announce the appointment of Laurel Stothers as Lead Data Scientist and Yizhen Liu as Data Engineer, further strengthening our software team.
Laurel, with a Master of Science in Physics, brings extensive experience to her new role, having joined Corescan in 2019 as a Data Analytics and Image Processing Specialist. Her journey within the company reflects her dedication and expertise, culminating in her position as Lead Data Scientist. Laurel will oversee the transition of our methodologies to an end-to-end ML-driven approach, revolutionizing our systems to deliver user-guided solutions and drive substantial advancements in scalability. Her immediate focus lies in developing ML-driven decision stacks to enhance the mineral library discovery process and streamline operations.
Yizhen, equipped with a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science in Materials Engineering, joins us from 2022, initially serving as a Data Processing Technician. In his new role as Data Engineer, Yizhen will play a pivotal role in evolving Corescan's software infrastructure towards ML-first subsystems. His responsibilities include collaborating with the data processing team to operationalize ML assets and optimizing workflows between production and R&D. Moreover, Yizhen leads the development of Corescan's ML-Ops framework, ensuring the efficient transfer of value between R&D and operations.
