“Exceptional” Results as Montreal’s Exploration PC Achieves Epiroc Flow Certification
Epiroc’s PC in Montreal (Fordia) is proud to announce that we have successfully obtained the Epiroc Flow Level 1 certification, and the best news is that we did it on the first try! Of the 19 centers participating in the program, we are now part of the seven Epiroc PCs that have been approved.
Epiroc Flow is a production and management improvement system. Its goal is to of position the production department at the center of change and it does this by involving support functions. There are three levels of certification that must be achieved.
While all Epiroc branches will be rolling out this program, Fordia began our transformation in May 2023. Many changes have taken place over the last year, including modifications in the production environment, its performance and the deployment of new ideas. Eighteen months later and following three days of intense auditing, we achieved our Level 1 certification.
The auditors toured our production departments and support functions to verify that all Level 1 criteria were being met, focusing on the following:
General operations of the department
How meetings are organized and what information is shared
How new ideas are developed and how existing ones are followed up
How 5S has been implemented and maintained
We are happy to announce that the auditors referred to our progress as “exceptional”. They were impressed by the following:
- 5S is deployed at all levels and perfectly applied. More importantly, the comments from the employees showed that they were proud of the changes that had taken place.
- The involvement of the employees regarding he development of new ideas and the changes.
- The impact of the improvements on the production line and he speed with which they were implemented.
- The coordination between all departments ad the communication shared with everyone.
What are our next steps? We can take a break for the rest of 2024 and stabilize all the changes and improvements. Then, we’ll continue improving in the new year, confident in our abilities to achieve Level 2 certification.
