“Sam from Schramm”; communication team launches successful social media marketing campaign

In October, Schramm Powered by Epiroc and the Exploration and Geoscience communications team launched a new social media campaign designed to increase engagement across Instagram and Facebook. The campaign is centered around a 3D-printed replica of a C685 reverse circulation drilling rig, dubbed “Sam from Schramm.”

The posts consist of “Sam” photoshopped into amusing graphics relating to seasonal and trending topics while also referencing the exploration drilling market. While the posts are intended to be fun, they will also promote safety and champion philanthropic causes. This month’s “Moustache November” post includes a link to donate to Movember, a non-profit that promotes mental and physical health for men.

Thus far, the campaign has resulted in an explosion of user engagement—a 15000% increase in Facebook content interactions and an 800% increase in Instagram account reach, per Meta.

The campaign is envisioned to run for at least six months and will correspond with industry trade shows, where customers will have a chance to play games, win prizes and take photos with Sam. In the coming weeks, the campaign is set to expand with the addition of more Epiroc rigs, starting with a Christensen CS160.
