Celebrating the first Schramm rig sold in Africa since the acquisition

by Shaiful Mohamed Ali, Regional General Manager West Africa

Schramm Powered by Epiroc is pleased to announce it has made its first RC Rig Sales in Africa since the company’s rebranding. The sales highlight the progress of the ongoing Schramm integration and demonstrate a successful collaboration between Epiroc West Africa and Schramm.

Alan Watson, International Sales Manager, Schramm, says, “This sale is a sign of great things to come. It is the result of the two biggest names in the exploration industry coming together to sell state-of-the-art RC rigs.”

While the seeds for the sale were planted before the Schramm acquisition, Alan Watson and others highlighted Serge Sanou, Sales Technician, Epiroc Burkina Faso, for being a driving force behind the deal.

Serge’s team worked diligently to convince the customers to select Schramm over the competition, an impressive feat considering one customer had eleven bidders, and the other customer was ready to proceed with a competing quotation. Fortunately, explains Serge, an Operations Manager had worked with a Schramm rig in the past and was impressed. When the manager learned that Schramm now had permanent product support in the area, he insisted on a Schramm quote.

That regional product support comes courtesy of Epiroc West Africa, a group of four Customer Centers in Ghana, Mali, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso. “Regional access to technical support via the Customer Centers was a key selling point. “Schramm’s reputation for high-quality rigs combined with local  Customer Center support gave both clients the confidence to purchase,” Serge says.

Epiroc West Africa is collaborating with the Schramm Powered by Epiroc Production Centers in Australia and the Schramm Aftermarket team in Garland, Texas, USA.

Yara Hussein, Schramm Aftermarket Portfolio Manager, says, “The Epiroc Customer Centers are our channels to seed the market for future capital and aftermarket sales. Together with the Global Product Team, we are building the aftermarket support for both legacy and new Schramm customers, serving their current targets and collaborating towards future goals.”

William Maloba, Regional Business Line Manager, Epiroc Ivory Coast, is thrilled to incorporate Schramm into the product portfolio, and believes that the acquisition will increase Epiroc market share in the exploration segment.

“There is enormous potential for Schramm Powered by Epiroc in West Africa,” says William. “When it comes to exploration, these rigs almost sell themselves.”
