Vulcan Configuration

The Vulcan configuration is an option that can be selected with most core bits and features a higher crown and higher diamond impregnation. For example, a HERO 7 with a Vulcan 20mm configuration will  improve the bit life so bit replacement will be reduced.

Vulcan 16 mm

The Vulcan 16 mm is an ideal choice for deep hole drilling. Its higher diamond impregnation allows drillers to replace the core bit less often. Patented bridge design reinforces the diamond segments. The Vulcan 16 mm may be ordered in all matrices offered by Fordia.

Vulcan 20 mm

Featuring the patented bridge design, the Vulcan 20 mm is the perfect choice for deep holes when 16 mm is not enough. The Vulcan 20 mm is available for selected matrices offered by Fordia.

Vulcan 26 mm

With 26 mm of diamond impregnation, Fordia’s Vulcan 26 mm is a specialized configuration that improves productivity. The Vulcan 26mm benefits from two patented design features, the bridges reinforcing the diamond segments as well as the vertical pins that restrict circulation of drilling fluids.

This feature empowers cooling of the crown to optimize the matrix performance. The Vulcan 26 mm is available for selected matrices offered by Fordia.

We are happy to announce that as of August 2, 2021, all Canadian Fordia offices will be making drill rigs available to their customers. In an earlier blog this year, we announced that drill rigs would be available for sale in the USA and that proved to be successful, so Canada will now join the USA in adding drill rigs to their portfolio of drilling equipment for the mineral exploration industry.

The mineral exploration industry has seen a lot of change in the last few years. One of the most common challenges is finding employees. Between the cyclic nature of the industry and the recent pandemic, many experienced drillers have left and replacing them has been difficult for many companies.

At the beginning of the year, we decided to update our popular eGuides so our customers would have the latest and greatest information. We started with our most popular guide on choosing the right core bit and are now in the process of taking each guide and updating its information to represent the many changes that have occurred over the last few years.

Customer service is our priority.
